    In the 1930s, motorcycle racing in the Pacific Northwest was often organized as "Gypsy Tours" by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA). These events typically featured:

    American Motorcyclist Association

    • Field Meet Events: Beyond standard racing, these included "field meet" activities like hillclimbs and stunt competitions.

    • The "New Start": Following the fair's reorganization in April 1939, the September event successfully combined these motor sports with traditional agricultural exhibits, paving the way for the fair to become a permanent annual fixture
