The Evolution of Yakima Collectibles & Coins

For many years, the heartbeat of my business was right here in the streets of Yakima. I still remember the early days at Track 29 Mall in downtown Yakima—a place filled with history and the unique energy of local vendors. Eventually, we moved to 120 S. 1st Street, where "Yakima Collectibles & Coins" became a staple for local enthusiasts looking for that rare piece of history.

Twelve years ago, however, my life’s "collectibles" shifted from coins and antiques to something far more precious: time with my family.

A Decade of Devotion

Closing the physical shop was a major turning point, but it was the right one. It allowed me to become a full-time caregiver for my elderly parents. I spent the last several years by my father’s side, caring for him until he passed December 22, 2024. Rest in peace, Dad—I miss you every day.

Today, my mission of care continues as I look after my 82-year-old mother and my aunt. Being there to maintain our home and ensure they are well-cared for is the most important "transaction" I will ever make.

The New Digital Storefront

While the doors at 1st Street have closed, the spirit of the shop is more alive than ever. Transitioning to a home-based model through eBay and yakCollectibles.com has been a "big deal" for our family. It has granted me the freedom to:

Balance Business and Care: I can manage inventory and ship orders without ever being more than a room away from my mom.

Maintain Our Home: The flexibility of e-commerce allows me to handle household repairs and daily needs on my own schedule.

Connect Globally: We still find "hidden gems," but now we share them with collectors all over the world right from our home in Yakima.
